From Compiz
Now that you have Compiz up and running you will be interested in what it can do for you...
Compiz was designed with a highly extensible plugin system (like Firefox's plugin system). These plugins can extend the basic functionality of Compiz, only giving you the features you want. Literally everything inside compiz is controlled by the plugins, even basic functionality like moving windows is enabled as a plugin.
The plugins have been categorized into 3 categories so that you can easilly tell what they do and if you need them.
- CORE - These plugins are required and Compiz may not work properly without them.
- OPTIONAL - These plugins are not vital to you using the computer normally but they are nice or provide some extra usability.
- EXTRA - These plugins are not vital and normally do not provide many usability enhancements.

| Animation Plugin | |
 | Description:
Adds animation effects to window actions. Revision 1515 from svn. Includes burn with smoke, mystical burn (multi coloured fire) and beam up effect. This version is specially patched for compiz and includes gandalfn's patches for Magic Lamp base size options and fixes the bug with Firefox and Open Office menus appearing as Normal type. This will only work on compiz versions 0.3.5 and later (ie. any version from current git.) If you are using a compiz release, please download the compiz extra package (there should be one available for your distro). |
